Paul Allen Nebel, age 80, of Wellman, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Larry Statler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
Paul was born on March 28, 1937 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Milton Ward and Hattie M. (McKune) Nebel. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1955. Paul was united in marriage to Elizabeth Freeman on December 6, 1980 in Wayland, IA.
Paul was employed with 76 LTD where he worked with hogs. He previously worked with turkeys and managed Derby Gas Stations in Burlington and Coralville. He was a member of Fern Cliff Church in Noble. Paul enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, mushrooming and hunting.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth "Liz" Nebel of Wellman IA; son, Rick Nebel and wife Vicki of Wayland, IA; son, Gordy Nebel of Wellman, IA; daughter, Brandi Monaghan and husband Chris of Morning Sun, IA; son, Ryan Gustafson and wife Mandi of Grand River, IA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters: Mary Ellen Saforek of Washington, IA; Marthena Barta and husband Wayne of Washington, IA; and Doris Sinn-Hauenstein of Wayland, IA.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sondra (Knight) Jones; and brothers-in-law: Ted Saforek, Everett Haunstein and Bob Sinn.
