Paul Gates, age 73, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 surrounded by family at his residence following a long battle with cancer.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Calling hours will begin at noon on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A general memorial has been established. Paul was born July 20, 1947 in Keokuk, Iowa. He enjoyed watching racing, working on lawn mowers and small engines, and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Gates of Washington, IA; daughter, Robin Craig of Riverside, IA; daughter, Rhonda Gates of Washington, IA; grandchildren: Morgan Craig (Jase Hammes) of Ames, IA and Hunter Craig (Megan Strabala) of Iowa City, IA; two sisters, Mary Ann Barker and Nancy (Carl) Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
