Paul E. Beenblossom, age 81, of Washington, Iowa died Wednesday, December 01, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday December 6, 2010 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Foor officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 am Sunday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established to the Washington County Hospital Foundation's Dialysis Clinic or the American Kidney Foundation. Paul was born May 21, 1929 in Washington, Iowa the son of Harold P. and Alta Mae (Fetters) Beenblossom. He graduated from Washington High School in 1947. On October 28, 1956, Paul was united in marriage to LuElla J. Sojka at the First Christian Church in Washington, Iowa.

Paul farmed all of his life south of Washington. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving for four years. He was a member of the Washington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Paul enjoyed wintering in the south. He enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye athletics and NASCAR.

Paul is survived by his son, Mark Beenblossom and wife Christi of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Julie McDonald of Columbia, Missouri; daughter, Barbara Reed and husband Greg of Columbia, Missouri; daughter, Amy Beenblossom of Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren and one brother, Don Beenblossom of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, LuElla in 2007.
