Patricia Marie Sherman, age 69, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a battle with cancer.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at St. James Church with Father Bernie Weir officiating. Visitation will begin noon Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for St. James Church, St. James School and Hospice of Washington County. Patricia was born September 20, 1945, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Justin "Dudley" and Hazel (O'Brien) O'Hearn. She attended rural grade school and Mount Saint Clare Girls Boarding School in Clinton, Iowa. Patricia graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Darwin Sherman on May 2, 1964 in Maquoketa.

Patricia has lived in Washington since 1978 and previously lived in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin and Maquoketa, Ottumwa and Marshalltown, Iowa. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at a bank and as a para-professional for Cardinal Elementary in Maquoketa. Patricia was a member of the St. James Parish in Washington, Iowa. She devoted her life to her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Darwin Sherman of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Traci Koeppel and husband Jeff of North Liberty, Iowa; daughter, Darci Witthoft and husband Joel of Washington, Iowa; son, Joseph Sherman of Washington, Iowa; and grandchildren: Nick, Wilx and Ruby Witthoft of Washington, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Joseph Beauchamp.
