Obituary

Patricia A. “Pat” Dusenbery, age 101, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the United Presbyterian Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the West Chester Community Church or Hospice of Washington County. The services will be livestreamed on the Jones & Eden Facebook page. Pat was born January 4, 1925, near West Chester, Iowa in rural Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Clement E. and Mabel (Kleese) Griffith. She attended Westminster Rural School northwest of West Chester and graduated from West Chester High School in 1942. She received her teaching degree after attending Washington Jr. College, The University of Northern Iowa, and Iowa Wesleyan College. She was united in marriage to Harry D. Dusenbery on June 2, 1946, at her parents home near West Chester.

Pat taught rural school at Prairie Flower, northwest of Washington; Westminster rural school, and also taught at the West Chester Elementary School. She worked as an Elementary Assistant Librarian at the Mid Prairie Community Schools for 14 years.

Pat was a member of the West Chester Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Group. She belonged to the Merry Mixers, the Sew and So Club, and the neighborhood Pinochle Group for many years. She enjoyed puzzles, baking, embroidery, crocheting, playing games and cards, and visiting “shut-ins”. Pat loved visiting with her 28 nieces and nephews and her neighbors through the years.

She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Vivian Griffith of Washington, Iowa; Jeaniene Dusenbery of Washington, Iowa; and Sandra Dusenbery of Brooklyn, Iowa; as well as 28 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; her son Tom in 1980; and five brothers: Paul, Donald, Jack, Ted and Clement “Griff”.
