Obituary

C. Naomi Tinnes, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the United Presbyterian Home following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 21st at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Bob Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Children's programs at the United Presbyterian Church or the memorial of the donor's choice. Naomi was born December 11, 1919 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Margaret Kyle. She attended school and graduated from Washington High School. On February 8, 1944, Naomi was united in marriage to Cloyce W. Tinnes in Rock Island, Illinois. They moved to the Kyle family farm northwest of Washington and farmed for about 48 years. Naomi has resided at the United Presbyterian Home since 1996.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington where she was an active volunteer, was a member of the Presbyterian Women, member of the bell choir, and was a Stephens Minister. Naomi was a 4-H leader and an integral part of the Snow Ball Social Club. She enjoyed playing pinochle and painting.

She is survived by daughter Shirley Reed and husband Lloyd of Crawford, Nebraska; daughter Angie Nofziger and husband Keith of Centennial, Colorado; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two nieces.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999, one daughter Claudia Short, one son Edwin Tinnes and two sisters Eunice Kyle and Florence Kyle.

There will be a display of Naomi's artwork at the United Presbyterian Church. Anyone who would be willing to lend a piece of Naomi's art for the display, please bring the artwork to the church anytime Tuesday or before noon on Wednesday.
