Nancy Jo Richardson, age 75, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a sudden illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Bickhart and Rev. Eva Bickhart officiating. Visitation will begin 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. The family will also receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to PAWS and More Animal Shelter. Nancy was born August 16, 1936 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Donald Gene and Alice Jo (Hays) Franklin. She attended school in Westwood, California, and graduated from Washington High School. Nancy was united in marriage to Bill Richardson on May 19, 1989 in Washington, Iowa.
Nancy had resided in Denver, Colorado for seven years, until moving back to Washington in 1974 to farm. She worked as a secretary while living in Denver, and was later the manager of calendar promotions at McCleery-Cummings until the close of the factory. She was a farm wife who managed the family farming operation.
Nancy was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter MX, the Order of the Eastern Star, and a few local bridge clubs. Nancy swam at the Washington Community Y where she loved to participate in water aerobics. She was an avid reader who enjoyed cleaning, and she loved animals.
She is survived by sons Bruce Alan Timmins and wife Julie; Joseph Dean Timmins; and Donald Gene Timmins and wife Kim, all of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren: Timothy Alan Timmins and wife Betsy of Washington; James Charles "JC" Timmins of Des Moines; Tara Jo Timmins of Washington; Jessica Lea Janecek and husband Kyle of Washington; and Ashley Nicole Timmins of Washington; and one great-grandson, Caden Lee Timmins of Washington.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill in 1990.
