Mildred Elizabeth Statler, age 103, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. General calling hours will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Mildred was born January 6, 1915, in Fairfield, Iowa, in her grandparent's home. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lorena (Carris) Lynn. She graduated from Keota High School in 1933 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. Mildred was united in marriage to L.P. "Mutt" Statler on February 18, 1935, in Galesburg, Illinois.

Mildred was a homemaker and she and her husband rented space in their home to teachers from West Chester School. Mildred taught china painting as part of the Prairie Painters Club. She attended the West Chester Methodist Church and was a member of the Merry Mixer Social Club and the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed baking and especially enjoyed making pies.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Ladehoff of Washington, IA; daughter, Janice Gibson of Washington, IA; daughter, Joyce Hardy of Ottumwa, IA; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Kyle of Washington, IA; sister, Roberta Lenninger and husband Robert of Washington, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1989; sons-in-law: Larry Martin, Charles Gibson and Glenn Ladehoff; and brothers-in-law: John Knott and Darl C. Kyle.
