Obituary
Michelle Ann Russell, age 63, of Washington, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Brownlee Health Center at the United Presbyterian Home, in Washington, Iowa, following a recent decline in health.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Michelle was born September 15, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Anna Lee (Sigler) Gonzalez. In February of 1966, Michelle and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In 1979 she graduated from Peoria High School in Peoria, Arizona, and in 1980 she moved back to Iowa with her parents. Michelle was married to Randy Russell on June 25, 1983, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington and later divorced in 2018.
Michelle was a Master Gardner. She was proud to have received her Associates Degree from Kirkwood Community College. Her hobbies included crafting, reading books, and watching musical plays.
Michelle enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters, who nicknamed her "Mimi." Michelle was noted for her distinctive and contagious laugh, the sound of which could start a room laughing with her.
Michelle is survived by her two children: son Tyler Russell and his wife Amanda, of Brighton, Iowa; daughter Whitney (Russell) Hoffman and her husband Jonathan, of White Oak, PA; five grandchildren: Kaiden Russell and Blaykelyn, Bode, Declan, and Harley Hoffman; three brothers: Michael Gonzalez of Muscatine, Iowa, Marlon Gonzalez of Marana, Arizona, and Matthew Gonzalez (Maria Lucia) of Davie, Florida; two sisters: Mary Gonzales (Jesse) of Glendale, Arizona, and Monica (Curtis) Hightower of Escanaba, Michigan.
Michelle was preceded in death by her parents.
