Obituary
Michael T. Harvey, age 53, of Washington, Iowa, died suddenly on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Washington County Hospital.
Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, with Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. Calling hours will begin 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Michael was born November 25, 1960 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Richard Thomas and Ardella Frances (Goodwin) Harvey. He graduated from Washington High School in 1979. Although he spent most of his life in Washington, Mike lived in Keota, Iowa from 1984-2001. Mike was united in marriage to Lisa Mumma on November 5, 1983 in Rapid City, Illinois. He worked as a technician for NuStar Pipeline in West Chester, Iowa for 35 years and later, owned and operated Heaven's Best Carpet Cleaning with his wife.
Mike was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Harvey of Washington, Iowa; son, Eric Harvey of Washington, Iowa; sister, Diana Hartmann and husband John of Washington, Iowa; brother, Tom Harvey and wife Barb of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; sister, Robyn Harvey-Smith and fiancé Tony Kuntz of Washington, Iowa; twelve nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Joan Mumma of Port Byron, Illinois; brother-in-law, Craig Mumma and wife Julie of Silvis, Illinois; brother-in-law, Neal Mumma and wife Becky of St. Louis, Missouri; sister-in-law, Laura Spreier and husband Lonnie of Rock Falls, Illinois; brother-in-law, Brian Mumma of Moline, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by father in 2001, his mother in 2008 and his brother, Robert G. Harvey in Vietnam in 1968.
