Michael Fritz, age 63, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a brief illness.

Michael was born December 29, 1948 in Washington, Iowa the son of Raymond and Hazel Marie (Stalder) Fritz. He attended school at St. James Elementary School and Washington High School, and later earned his Associate's Degree from Southeastern Iowa Community College. He served as a Medic in the United States Army from 1970 until 1972.

Michael was employed as an Outside Sales Representative for Cargill-Nutrena from 1980 until 1998. He later sought various business interests and was self-employed until his retirement in 2002.

Michael liked to fish, hunt, and play cards and golf. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, and he was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.

Michael is survived by son Joseph Fritz of Washington, Iowa; brother Ted Fritz and wife Julie of Beardstown, Illinois; sister Marge Richards and husband Jack of Grinnell, Iowa; sister Linda Leyden and husband Roger of Washington, Iowa; and brother Bob Fritz and wife Annette of Washington, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Fritz.
