Max Delos See passed away quietly in his sleep on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Washington County Hospital.

Max was born on October 9, 1917, in Washington, IA, the son of Michael "Mime" D. and Bernice (Thompson) See. He was proud to have graduated from Washington High School in 1937. Except for his service in the Army Air Corps in WWII, he lived his 99 ½ years as a resident of Washington.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Reim on August 31, 1940 in Carthage, MO. They were married for 65 years until Mildred's passing in 2005.

Max was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. For 43 years, Max repaired band instruments as the owner of See Band Instrument Repair. To honor his retirement in 2001, the mayor proclaimed it to be Max See Day in the City of Washington.

His hobbies included playing in the municipal band for 68 years. Max played in various local dance bands and was interviewed by John Campbell, KCRG TV, as Mr. Tennis on both his 70th and 90th birthdays. He, along with his younger brother Rex, shared a love of flying for many years. He was a past member of the Washington Airport Club. A favorite activity was his longtime membership in the Washington Coffee Club, participating in the election of perhaps thousands of club presidents.

He is survived by his three sons, Robert (Anita) of Rogers, AR; Bill (Kathy) of Fort Collins, CO; Dick (Susan) of Washington, IA; and his daughter Carla (Craig) Martin of St. Charles, MO; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; brothers, Clarence "Mike," Rex; and sisters, Helen Gildersleeve, Marie Swift, and DeElda Brown.
