Frances Maurine Larsen, age 93, of Washington died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Church or the United Presbyterian Home. Maurine was born April 26, 1918 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Harvey Lloyd and Helen Meek (Galloway) Walker. She graduated from Washington High School, Washington Jr. College and later attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. On May 27, 1943, Maurine was united in marriage to Louis W. Larsen in Washington, Iowa.
Maurine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington where she was an Elder and Deacon and was active in the United Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Farm Bureau, Neighborhood Clubs and Fortnightly Club where she received the "Mother of the Year" award. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and baking.
Maurine is survived by her son Willard Larsen and wife LeAnne of Camanche, Iowa; daughter Margaret Meliza and husband Larry of Winter Park, Florida; daughter Beth Hochstetler and husband Will of Charlottesville, Virginia; daughter Barb Mineart and husband Joe of Marion, Iowa; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Jeanette Walker, Martha Ellis, Helen Larsen and Martha Larsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2008, and one brother William Walker.
