Mary D. Tusing, age 76, of Washington died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the M.L. McCreedy Home following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with services conducted by Pastor Joseph Brown. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Mary D. Tusing was born September 3, 1935 in Morning Sun, Iowa the daughter of Oakland Forest and Myrtle Geneva (Sorber) Kerr. She attended school in Morning Sun and graduated from Wapello High School. She has been a resident of Washington for over fifty years.
Mary worked for Advance Ross Manufacturing, and also the American Pearl Button Factory. She was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother.
Mary was a member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and mushrooming. She was an animal lover who was especially fond of her dog "Q", and she enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels.
She is survived by five children: son William Leasure and wife Beth of Washington; daughter Lori Wixom and husband Chris of Washington; son Hank Tusing and wife Crystal of Keota; son Eric Tusing and special friend Michele of Mount Pleasant; and son Mike Tusing of Washington; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and brothers Leonard and Larry Kerr of West Chester.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husbands William Leasure, Cecil Tusing, and Edward Wixom; grandson Tristan Ferguson; great-granddaughter Addalynn Ray Flynn; and sister Colleen Glisan.
