Obituary
Mary Louise Tinnes, age 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Cottage Grove Health Care Center in Cedar Rapids.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Cemetery in Richland. A memorial has been established for Hospice at UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids. Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was born December 25, 1921 in St. Paul, Kansas, the daughter of James Lawrence and Hulda (Goff) Gier. She was united in marriage to Roquel Tinnes in Washington, Iowa. Roquel passed away September 12, 1989.
Mary and her family moved to Iowa when Mary was 7 years old. She has spent the last 50 years in Cedar Rapids. Mary worked for J.C. Penny's and Spurgeon's and enjoyed sewing and reading.
She is survived by two nieces.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Howard Gier.
