Obituary

Mary T. Redlinger, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24th, at St. James Catholic Church where prayer services will be held at 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday at the church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. James Church or Hospice of Washington County. Mary was born October 13, 1934, in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Agnes (Fritz) Pacha. She attended school in Brighton, Iowa, graduating from Brighton High School in 1953. Mary was united in marriage to James Redlinger on August 15, 1953, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa.

Mary worked for the Washington Community School District as the Food Service Supervisor for 18 years retiring in 1986. She previously owned and operated Donutland in Washington with her husband. Mary was the manager of Seiferts Clothing for several years. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church. Mary loved cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Redlinger of Washington, Iowa; son, Mike (Judy) Redlinger of Asheville, North Carolina; daughter, Beth (John) Wadella of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter, Jane (Pat) Kelley of Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Mary Jo (Ted) Robinson of Atlantic, Iowa; daughter, Lisa Murray of Brighton, Iowa; son, Matt (Kim) Redlinger of Richmond, Texas; daughter, Laura (Tommy) Moore of Chandler, Arizona; son, Mark Redlinger of Washington, Iowa; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her brother, Charlie (Maggie) Pacha of Washington, Iowa.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Josephine Pacha, Ann Sheridan, Isabelle Adam, Helen Hesseltine and Paul Pacha; and daughter-in-law, Barb Redlinger.
