Mary Ann Hennigan, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Halcyon House in Washington.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the St. James Catholic Church where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Mary Ann was born January 23, 1930, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Garold R. and Mary (Andrzejewski) Patchin. She attended school in Davenport, Iowa, and graduated from Davenport High School. Mary Ann was united in marriage to William Hennigan on February 11, 1950 in Davenport, Iowa.
Mary Ann was a dedicated housewife and mother, playing an important role in raising nine children. She held various part time jobs in Washington throughout her life. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the St. James Altar & Rosary Society. Mary Ann was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending her family's sporting and school events. She was a great cook and the Hennigan home was often times a gathering spot for kids in the neighborhood which were her extended family.
She is survived by her son, Pat Hennigan and wife Chris of Urbandale, IA; son, Mike Hennigan and wife Leslie of Cookeville, TN; son, Denny Hennigan and wife Joan of Eldridge, IA; daughter, Sue Cohn and husband Dr. Ron of Moravian Falls, N.C.; daughter, Barbara Hennigan of Mathews, N.C.; son, Tim Hennigan and wife Leslie of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Joe Hennigan and wife Lisa of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Matt Hennigan and wife Missy of Washington, Iowa; and daughter, Ann Godwin and husband Lindley of Greensboro, N.C. Mary Ann is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; one brother, Gary Patchin of Rock Island, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Jody Zine of Elgin, Illinois.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2014; sister-in-law, Jackie Patchin; and brother-in-law, Chuck Zine.
