Mary Lou Edgar, age 76, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa, after failing in health.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2015, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Pastor Jason Collier and Larry Fletcher officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Mary Lou was born April 7, 1939, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Irene (Roth) Buck. She attended school in Ainsworth and Washington and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1958. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Harlan Dean "Hank" Edgar on September 30, 1958, in Crawfordsville, Iowa.
Mary Lou lived in Ainsworth, Iowa, prior to moving to Crawfordsville in 1977. She worked at the Coffee Cup in Olds, Iowa, the Dairy Mart in Ainsworth, Iowa, Children's House Day Care in Ainsworth, Iowa, and at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. She was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville. Mary Lou enjoyed attending the Ainsworth High School Alumni Reunions. She enjoyed sewing, working on puzzles and going to dances with her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Schafer and husband Scott of Keosauqua, Iowa; son, William H. "Bill" Edgar and wife Deanne of Crawfordsville, Iowa; six grandchildren: Mandy Farrier of Brighton, Iowa; Megan Edgar and friend Tyler Carroll of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mitchell Edgar and friend Sarah Waite of Crawfordsville, Iowa; Molly Edgar of Washington, Iowa; Bryce Ackerman and Bryan Ackerman of Crawfordsville, Iowa; brother, Lloyd Dale Buck and wife Bonnie of Ainsworth, Iowa; and one sister, Katie Kiesey and husband Dan of Marion, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hank, in 2012; three brothers, Francis B. "Sonny" James, Junior "Sheenie" Buck, and Richard Buck; as well as three sisters, Helen Johnson, Grace Moore and Maxine Jones.
