Mary E. Brown, age 71, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Halcyon House under hospice care.

Mary was born December 19, 1952, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Merrit and Elizabeth Pauline (Powell) Pitcher. She graduated from Grundy Center High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Mary was united in marriage to Edward Brown on November 17, 1973, in Grundy Center.
Mary and Ed lived in Cedar Falls prior to moving to Washington in 1979. Mary worked at the McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Brown of Washington, Iowa; son, Carl Adam (Stephanie) Brown of Keota, Iowa; son, Matt (Joy) Brown of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren: Luke Brown, Jude Brown, Tattum Brown, Elizabeth Brown and Chance Brown; and one great granddaughter, Scout Patterson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William and David Pitcher.
