Mary K. Arnold, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, April 6, 2020, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mary was born October 9, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of William and Eva (Stratton) Stevens. She graduated from Washington High School and later graduated from the University of Hawaii. Mary was united in marriage to William R. Arnold on June 9, 1950.

Mary has lived in Washington, Iowa, since 1980, and had previously lived in California and Hawaii. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. While in California, she worked at the Neuro Psychiatric Institute at UCLA. Mary was a member of Grace Community Church in Washington and belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary's mission in life was helping and ministering to people.

She is survived by her son, William J. Arnold and wife Elizabeth of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Ricky D. Arnold of Willow Park, Texas; daughter, Ruth Bellinger of Washington, Iowa; two grandchildren: Katie Marie Bellinger and Matthew David Arnold; and one sister, Eva Bickhart of Washington, Iowa.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William R. in 1984; grandson, Adam Christopher Arnold; sister, Betty Jean Wilson; and brother, John Robert Stevens.
