Obituary

Marvin L. Brown, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital due to kidney failure.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington with Dan McClure officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter. Marvin was born May 5, 1931 in West Chester, Iowa, the son of Howard and Zenna (Earll) Brown. He attended Washington Community Schools and three years of college while in the military. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Henry on September 20, 1960 in Ayer, Massachusetts.

Marvin served honorably for the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the military after twenty years of service. Marvin then worked for Northrup King in Washington and retired in 1995 from the University Hospital as a security officer.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Washington, Iowa; son, Gary Brown of Washington, Iowa: son, Matt Brown of Coralville, Iowa; brother, Wayne Brown and wife Nadene of Washington, Iowa; brother, Earl of North Liberty, Iowa; sister, Bernadine Hutchison of Glenville, Georgia; sister, Charlene Brogan of Round Rock, Texas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clifford Brown.
