Martin F. Kron, age 102, of Washington, Iowa died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Washington Care Center following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dan McClure officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place at the Riverside Public Cemetery in Riverside. Martin was born September 8, 1908 in rural Riverside, Iowa the son of Frank and Ida (Kleopfer) Kron. Martin was raised in Washington County. He attended country schools. Martin was united in marriage to Irene Marie Vondrasek on January 15, 1935.

Martin farmed most of his life and after moving to town worked at Farmers Cashway in Washington for ten years until his retirement in 1973. He enjoyed people watching and going for coffee at the Frontier Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by her parents; his wife in 1998; three brothers, Albert, Roy and Vern Kron; six sisters, Lena Novy; Agnes Martin; Alice Wieland; Clara Murphy; Loretta Kron; and Glady Deasch.
