Martin Fon Fominyen, age 77, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Clarinda and Coralville died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Aspire of Washington.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Martin was born July 17, 1944 in Bamenda, Cameroon the son of Joseph Takara and Elizabeth Suh Fominyen. He graduated from secondary school in Bamenda and furthered his education in the United States receiving his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and later receiving his Masters Degree. Martin was united in marriage to Margaret Luma Fongun. She preceded him in death.

Martin is survived by daughter, Alma Ncho of New Jersey; son, Everett Fominyen of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Ninah Fominyen of Coralville, Iowa; daughter, Lega Fominyen of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Muyang "Boni" Fominyen of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Edward Fai Fominyen of Cameroon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Luma Fominyen; one son, Fon Fominyen; and one sister, Judith Fominyen.
