Martha Walker, age 81, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at her residence in Washington.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Washington County Hospice or Lending Hands. Mary Martha was born March 3, 1934, in Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Peter Paul and Catherine M. (Pollmiller) Hahn. She attended school in Keota and graduated from Keota High School in 1952. Martha was united in marriage to Grant W. Walker on February 12, 1955, in Keota, Iowa.
Martha has lived in Washington since 1955. She was Secretary/Treasurer for Walker Livestock Inc. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington and was a member of the Diamond Inn Syndicate and the Iowa Harness Horse Association.
She is survived by five children: daughter, Cathy Rich and husband Melvin of Brighton, Iowa; son, Harry Walker and wife Julie of Washington, Iowa; son, G Walker and wife Terri of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Nancy Anson and husband David of Plymouth, Minnesota; daughter Deb Havermann and husband Brent of Clive, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Jamie Rich and fiance Tsalika Drown, Becky Rich, Amy Vetter and husband Jeff, Abbe Watson and husband J.B., A.J. Walker, Ashtin Walker, Keaton Walker and wife Lauren, Kaleb Walker, Alexa Walker, Colin Anson and wife Leigh, Trevor Anson, Haley Havermann, Grant Havermann, and Sofia Havermann; seven great grandchildren: Katie Rich, Aaron Rich, Isaac Vetter, Cole Vetter, Jonah Watson, Lyla Watson, and Lola Walker; one brother, Donald Hahn of Sigourney, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Carol Giardino of Washington, Iowa.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grant in 2001, one brother Ken Hahn and two sisters-in-law, Janet Hahn and Vada Hahn.
