Martha Helen Rader, age 100, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a brief illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the McIntire Cemetery in rural Ottumwa, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Martha was born September 18, 1910 in Enid, Oklahoma the daughter of Harry Albert and Elma Eva (McClure) Lasley. She attended school in Selma, Iowa. On June 24, 1929, Martha was united in marriage to William Ray Rader in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1979.
Martha was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and taking care of her flowers. She was a member of Miller's Chapel southeast of Ottumwa.
She is survived by one son Harry Rader of Washington, Iowa; granddaughter Cheryl Lee Payne and husband Russell of Washington, Iowa; grandson William Michael Rader and wife Leslie of Blue Springs, Missouri; granddaughter Janice Kaye Rader-Pringle and husband Randy of Fairfield, Iowa; eight great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Robert, Samuel and George Lasley; as well as two sisters Mary Worrell and Eula Reisch.
