Obituary

Marlin Jean Meiners, age 78, of Wellman, Iowa, passed on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, at the First Church of God in Brighton, Iowa, with Pastor Rick Hughes officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Marlin Jean was born December 18, 1938 at the Washington County Hospital. Her parents were Dorance and Osie (Messenger) Arduser. She attended school in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School in 1958. Marlin was united in marriage to Kenneth Meiners on September 5, 1965. They later divorced.

Marlin was a lifelong resident of Washington County. She worked at Fuller Brush in Iowa City, and at Advanced Ross Manufacturing in Washington. Marlin sold Tupperware for 13 years and was a member of the TupperTots. She enjoyed crocheting, doing embroidery as well as collecting owl and cardinal figurines. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Marlin enjoyed going on trips with her family and traveling to visit family.

She is survived by her son, Sean Meiners and wife Deborah of Valdese, North Carolina; son, Dave Meiners of Republic, Missouri; daughter, Danielle Glaspie and husband Jeff of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Sally Loomis and husband Todd of Belle Plaine, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Arduser of Ladora, Iowa; sister, Reita Humphries of West Chester, Iowa; and brother, Wendell Arduser and wife Karen of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Marlin was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Mervin Arduser; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
