Mark Goodwin, age 60, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals surrounded by his loved ones.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the First Assembly of God Church in Washington with Pastor Dave Watson and Pastor Jim Cluney officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening. Mark was born September 29, 1955, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Eugene and Opal Beatrice (Moore) Goodwin. He attended school in Wayland and Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1973. Mark was united in marriage to Constance Sue "Connie" Waters on October 5, 1973, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa.
Mark was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa. He owned and operated C & M Construction in Washington for many years. Following hurricane Katrina, Mark went to New Orleans where he worked as General Manager for Orleans Shoring helping in the recovery efforts. Mark thoroughly enjoyed his work in New Orleans.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, golfing, fishing and pampering his 1969 Chevelle.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Goodwin of Washington, Iowa; son, Chad Goodwin and wife Gina of Solon, Iowa; son, Scott Goodwin and wife Cassie of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Jordan, River, Quinn, Lane, Cache, Elizabeth and Gabrielle Goodwin; a chosen granddaughter, Rebecca Weber originally of New Orleans, Louisiana; brother, Jerry Goodwin and wife Marilyn of Farmington, Arkansas; sister, Connie Allender and husband Don of Washington, Iowa; brother, Steve Goodwin and wife Ann of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Dan Goodwin and wife Linda of Mesa, Arizona; and two sisters-in-law, Kathy Goodwin of Washington, Iowa, and Patsy Goodwin of Glendale, Arizona.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gearold, John and Ray Goodwin; an infant sister, Dorothy Goodwin; and one sister-in-law, Sarah Goodwin.
Mark will be greatly missed by his family and friends of Washington, Iowa, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
