Marjorie Wilson, age 78, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Monday morning at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial has been established. Marge was born April 25, 1937 in Gary, Indiana, the only child of James and Evelyn (Johnson) Brenton. The family moved to Twelve Mile, Indiana in 1947 where Marge graduated from high school in 1955. She met Homer Wilson in 1955 at Harvey's Drive In where he was a cook. The couple united in marriage on June 8, 1956, in Indiana. They had three children known as "The 3 K's:" Kevin, Ken and Karen.
Marge moved to Washington, Iowa in 1998 to be near her son and grandchildren. She was known as "The Cable Lady" for several years, when TCI Cable had an office in town. In later years, Marge worked for her daughter at Kum & Go Convenient Store for several years. She loved being able to meet so many people in the community and visit with them each time she worked.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Washington and enjoyed the friendships she made with her church family. She taught Sunday School and led Bible Studies in Indiana and in Washington, Iowa. The most important thing to her was her relationship with God. She loved playing word games and spending time with family.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Wilson of Fernley, Nevada; son, Ken Wilson of Godwin, North Carolina; daughter, Karen Wilson of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Ryan, Kenneth, Phillip, Seth, LeeAnn, and Bree; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Maliki, Tahlia and Jayden.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on October 28, 2013.
