Obituary

Marjorie Belle Rich, age 84, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her residence.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, at St. James Church with Father Bernie Weir officiating. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, please give a flower to someone you love. Marjorie was born February 17, 1932 in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Merle D. and Etta R. (Baker) Statler. She graduated from Washington High School. Marjorie was united in marriage to Donald Joseph Rich on June 17, 1952 in Washington, Iowa.

Marjorie was a lifetime resident of Washington County. She was a self-employed turkey farmer until her retirement in 1997. Marjorie was a faithful member of the St. James Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary, St. James Circle, and served as the secretary and treasurer for the St. James Catholic School. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed nature and working in her yard. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Gwen TeBockhorst and husband Joe of West Chester, Iowa; daughter, Jolisa Weidner and husband Larry of Washington, Iowa; son, Scott Rich and friend Monica of Coal Creek, Colorado; daughter, Sonja J. Rich and friend Terry Bean of Columbus Junction, Iowa; daughter, Donja J. Rich and friend Don of Naples, Florida; grandchildren: Tabitha Hahn and husband Lonnie; Casey Peck and husband Ben; Megan Fuglsang and husband Jason; Joe TeBockhorst and friend Chris; Tad TeBockhorst; Brooke Anderson and husband Chuck; Courtney Weidner and fiancé Jeremy Hoyt; Ross Weidner and wife Meghan; Seth, Haley, and Jase Hammes; Morgan Rich; Jade McGill and husband Seth; and Nathan Stoutner; great-grandchildren: Ellie, Alyvia, and Ivy Belle Anderson; Gage Edler; Reese Weidner; Riley Hahn; Payton, Blake, and Nickolas Peck; Lilly, Zoey, Audey and Lake Fuglsang; Fiona, Jude and Pheobe McGill; Skylin Stoutner and Landon Hagens; sister, Dorothy Martin of Longmont, Colorado; and brother, Marvin Statler of Derby, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Zachary Scott Rich; great-grandson, Jakob Peck; sister, Grace Polson; and brother, Dale Statler.
