Marion J. Jones, age 92, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at Sunrise Terrace Nursing Center following a brief illness.
Celebration of life services will be held in conjunction with her husband's service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th at the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church in rural Columbus City, Iowa. Calling hours will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Cambrian Cemetery. Marion was born April 3, 1924, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of John Morgan and Josephine O. (Hathaway) Williams. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1942 and attended the American Institute of Commerce (AIC) in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 1943. Marion was united in marriage to Lester R. Jones on March 19, 1954, in Muscatine, Iowa.
She worked as a bookkeeper and office clerk for Swift & Company in Muscatine and Des Moines, Iowa, for 11 years prior to her marriage. Marion was a member of the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church where she was active with the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Rural Homemakers Club.
Marion is survived by daughter, Karen Greiner and husband Eugene of Harper, Iowa; daughter, Ruthie Larsen and husband Clint of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Shirley Temple and husband Jeff of Crawfordsville, Iowa; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, John Harold Jones of Crawfordsville, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Gamon Jones of Wellman, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester, on June 29, 2016; four brothers, Hugh Williams and wife Doris, Thomas Williams, Robert Williams and John Williams and wife Pat; and an infant sister, Ruth Williams.
