Marilyn E. Dennis, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at her residence in Washington following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. Visitation will begin 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Marilyn was born December 2, 1937, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Vera (Van Sant) Goodwin. She attended school in Washington, Iowa. Marilyn was united in marriage to Allan A. Dennis on April 30, 1954 at the Nazarene Church in Washington.

Marilyn was a life resident of Washington, Iowa, where she was active in the Moose Lodge where she was leader of the Women's Moose. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of the Iowa Foster Care Program. She enjoyed camping and being with her family. Her greatest joy in life was her children.

She is survived by her husband, Allan Dennis of Washington, Iowa; son Joey Dennis and wife Charlotte of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Portia Temeyer and husband Irvin of Iowa City, Iowa; son, Jeff Goodwin and special friend Amy Dantuma of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Marilyn J. Dennis and fiancé Aaron Walters of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Patience Hudson and husband Kole of Fort Riley, Kansas; daughter, Jessica Dennis of Washington, Iowa; son, Justin Dennis of Washington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Pete of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Janice Milam of Lawton, Oklahoma; and sister, Roberta Atwell and husband Bill of Sigourney, Iowa.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one brother, and three granddaughters.
