Marian Ruth Humston, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, March 17, 2014, unexpectedly at home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Marian was born May 18, 1926, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Vincent and Elizabeth (Donaldson) Mineart. She graduated from High School in Pleasant Plain. On January 24, 1945, Marian was united in marriage to Grant H. Humston Jr. in Washington, Iowa.
Marian lived all of her married life in the Washington Community. She worked at the Frontier Restaurant for 27 years. She was currently employed at Sitler Electric where she had worked since 1989. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Marian enjoyed working, spending time in her yard, gardening, sewing and reading. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Peebler of Batavia, Iowa; son, Ed Humston of Mesa, Arizona; son, Garry Humston and wife Sharon of St. Cloud, Florida; daughter, Becky Renoux and friend Walt Horning of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Susan Lins and husband John of Carlisle, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Mineart and wife Berthe of Northville, California.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; son, Larry; grandson, Jim; brother, Joe Mineart; step sister, Lucille Godwin; and step brothers, Howard and Charles Mineart.
