Marian Jane Brown, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Washington County Hospital.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington where the family will receive friends that morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Pastor Maureen Howard will be officiating. Marian was born June 30, 1934 in Waverly, IA, the daughter of Earl and Juanita (Heuser) Graf. She graduated from Waverly High School, attended Wartburg College, and graduated from Austin State Junior College in Austin, Minnesota. Marian was united in marriage to Gerald F. Brown on September 1st, 1956 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After Gerald's retirement as a Pastor, the couple moved to Washington, Iowa.
As a pastor's wife she served with her husband at 7 different churches over her lifetime. With her love for God, and her warm hospitality, she welcomed many into her home. She was also a homemaker for many years and worked caring for people at a Cerebral Palsy Center for children, as Home Health Aide and as director of the Area Agency on Aging. Marian always found the good in people and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed crafts, canning and sewing. She was a great cook and truly enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Brown-Smith of Washington, Iowa; son, Stuart Brown and wife Tracy of Wausau, Wisconsin; daughter, Helen Clubb and husband Jeff of Keswick, Iowa; son, Dion Brown and wife Carmencita of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, James and Jerred Miller, Carissa Jones, Brianna Brown, Selena Smith, Aaron, Ashley and Anna Brown, Nate and Allison Clubb and Gabrielle Brown; great-grandchildren, Xavier, River, Harrison, Sawyer and Jerred Miller, Brooklyn, Braxton and Bella Jones, Aiden Feldman, Elena Clubb and Tarcheon Roberts Jr.; sister, Coreen Hein and husband Richard of Marion, Iowa; and brother, Keith Graf of St. Joe AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 2014.
