Margery was born April 9, 1933, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of John and Elsie (Thompson) Wieland. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Riverside, Iowa, in 1951. She was married to Lee Edwin Goodlander on July 14, 1953. After the birth of their first child, Vicki Ann, they moved to California and were joined by the birth of their son, James Lee. The family moved back to Washington, Iowa, in 1963.

She was the Accounting Manager of Seifert's Central Office from 1967 until 1991. After the Seifert's closing, Margery decided to join James in Arkansas so she could be closer to her grandchildren. She worked as a bookkeeper for Duell & Allred until she retired in 1998. Margery returned to Washington in 2005 and moved to the United Presbyterian Home in 2010.

Margery thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was visited by her great grandchildren in November before becoming ill. That visit brought life to her eyes and a smile on her face.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki McFarland and husband Mike of Washington, Iowa; son, James Goodlander and wife Debra of Greenland, Arkansas; grandson, Brant Barnes of Farmington, Arkansas; four granddaughters: Jennifer Bakatselou and husband Kostas of Athens, Greece; April Goodlander, Alicia Goodlander, Angela Villegas and husband Aaron all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four great grandchildren: Leo and Zoi Bakatselou of Athens, Greece; and Kaden Cassady and Sophia Gordon both of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
