Margaret E. Simpson, age 102, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Margaret was born April 14, 1911, in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Kos) Stumpf. She attended school in Richmond, Iowa. On January 25, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage to Stanley Fetters Simpson in Buffalo, New York.
Margaret and Stanley lived for many years on a farm in Pennsylvania, where Margaret took pride in raising and caring for their three children. Before that, she also helped to raise her 13 younger brothers and sisters in Iowa. Margaret spent a great deal of time in the Pennsylvania farm's orchards and gardens, and in canning the produce she harvested. She was a great cook and baker who also raised and enjoyed flowers and had a special fondness for animals both wild and domestic.
She is survived by her son, James Simpson and wife Susan of Wayne, PA; son, Michael Simpson and wife Lu Price of Allentown, PA; daughter, Candace Simpson and husband Narayanan Ramasamy of Palo Alto, CA; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and eight sisters: Mary Mellinger, Lola Hogan, Pat Beranek, Barbara Strickler, Judy Allen, Jean Westerbeck, Diane Spicher, and Sally Hamilton.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband (in 2005), two brothers and three sisters.
Margaret's family is deeply grateful to the staff of Brownlee Health Center for the professional and compassionate care she received during the eleven years she was a resident there.
