Margaret J. "Marge" Hansen, age 80, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Halcyon House in Washington following a lengthy illness.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. James Church with Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday in Tobin Hall at St. James Church where the family will receive friends. Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund or Hospice of Washington County. Marge was born August 13, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Amy (Spafford) Leigh. She attended school in Clinton, Iowa and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. On June 10, 1950, Marge was united in marriage to Lyle E. Hansen in Clinton, Iowa.
Marge was a homemaker and enjoyed doing artwork. She enjoyed baking Christmas cookies and sharing them with family and friends. Marge was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington.
She is survived by her daughter Leigh Wolf and husband Kurt of Washington, Iowa; daughter Lori Cave and husband Steve of Keota, Iowa; son Lyle Hansen and Rhonda Hill of Washington, Iowa; son Matt Hansen and wife Kim of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son Michael Hansen of Washington, Iowa; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister Suzanne Junge and husband Ed of Camanche, Iowa.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, and three sisters, Janet, Joyce and Carol.
