Mabel Lenz, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Halcyon House in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Ben Blanchard officiating. General calling hours will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County, United Methodist Church and Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund. Mabel was born April 5, 1918, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Nellie Irene (Chensky) Goss. She attended school in Iowa City. Mabel was united in marriage to Irving F. "Stub" Lenz on January 15, 1935, in Kahoka, Missouri.
Mabel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington. She was a homemaker and enjoyed painting, sewing and working with ceramics. Mabel enjoyed camping and spending time at Lake Odessa and traveling to Texas.
She is survived by her grandsons, Jeff Seawell and wife Anne of Kelso, Washington; and Todd Seawell and wife Dawna of Gilbert, Arizona; one great-granddaughter, Nichole Seawell of Lawrence, Kansas; son-in-law, Al Seawell of Princeton, Wisconsin; and son-in-law, Mark Mosier of Washington, Iowa.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; 2 daughters, Carolyn Seawell and Bev Mosier; 2 sisters, Jeanne Beachler and Thora Jones; and one grandson, Scott Seawell.
