Obituary

M. Juanita Hering, 93, of Washington, Iowa died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the United Presbyterian Home following a decline in health.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday December 23, 2011 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Herb Yoder and Pastor David Ivie officiating. Visitation will begin 12 noon Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Washington County Genealogical Society or the Washington Public Library. Muriel Juanita was born March 7, 1918 in Crawfordsville, Iowa the daughter of Lewis and Viola Maude (Ferguson) Hering. Juanita attended school in Crawfordsville through the tenth grade, and graduated from Washington High School. She attended the Gem City College of Business in Quincy, Illinois. Juanita worked in accounting for the Mormon Feed Company in Quincy, Illinois for five years, and also worked for Hobert Cattlebuyers in Washington, Iowa. In 1948, Juanita started at the Washington State Bank where she worked until her retirement in 1984. She was named a Vice President and Trust Officer of the Washington State Bank in 1970.

Juanita attended Pleasant Hill Christian Church. She had a passion for genealogy which she was proud to share with her family and friends. She served many years as the secretary for the Washington County Library Board. Juanita assisted many people with their personal finances, including serving as executrix for many people's estates. She raised goats for many years, even after moving to town in 1960.

Juanita is survived by her niece Judy Bartholow and husband Bernie of Muscatine, Iowa; great nephew Dr. Tim Bartholow and wife Janice of Madison, Wisconsin; great niece Tammi Drawbaugh and husband Paul of Muscatine, Iowa; great great nieces and nephews including Matt Bartholow of Seattle, Washington; Dan Bartholow of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Kaleb and Emma Drawbaugh of Muscatine, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lisle Hering and an infant sister Marjorie Nellie Hering.
