Obituary

Lucille Margaret Coon Wagner, age 93, of Amana, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Lakeview Village in Amana, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church of Washington, Iowa or the Lakeview Village. Online condolences may be sent for Lucille's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

Lucille M. Wagner was born April 23, 1918 in the Washington County Hospital the daughter of Ira Allen and Artie Mae (Drake) Coon. She received her elementary education at Union Dale and Oak Grove Country Schools. She graduated from Washington High School in 1935 and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. On May 12, 1939, Lucille was united in marriage to J. Ernest Wagner. They were later divorced.

She worked as a secretary in the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance office, in the Carlton C. Wilson law office and Town and Country Plymouth office, all in Washington. In 1968 she established her own accounting service and practiced until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington where she taught Sunday School. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. Lucille resided at the Lakeview Village Retirement Community since 1999.

Lucille is survived by a daughter, Linda Yoder and husband Larry of Marengo, Iowa; son Ira A. Wagner and wife Sharonlee of Washington, Iowa; and son Bill Wagner of Ballwin, Missouri; six grandchildren: Erica Yoder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Tascha Yoder of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rachel Wagner of Baltimore, Maryland; John Wagner and wife Jennifer of Washington, Iowa; Bruce Wagner and wife Billie Jo of North Liberty, Iowa; Ryan Wagner of Des Moines, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Zoe and Rory Wagner and Brody Wagner all of Washington. She is also survived by several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and one sister, Marjorie Coon of Amana, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son John Allen Wagner in 1947, and one brother Sidney Coon.
