Lucille J. Reighard, age 81, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the M.L. McCreedy Home after having been seriously ill for the past month.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Troy Richmond officiating. General calling hours will be held from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Tobin Hall at St. James Church. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. Lucille June Reighard was born June 7, 1931 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Coletta (Waldschmidt) Franzen. She graduated from Washington High School in 1949. On October 7, 1949, Lucille was united in marriage to Carroll Reighard in Washington, Iowa.
Lucille was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa. She was a homemaker, and she also did bookkeeping for the family business. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a former member of the Catholic Daughters. She loved to collect antique Christmas items. Her family always came first, and Lucille thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Lucille is survived by husband Carroll of Washington, Iowa; four daughters: Patricia Fritz and husband Larry of Washington, Iowa; Priscilla Reighard and friend Dale Haifley of Washington, Iowa; Janet Windus and husband Randy of Atalissa, Iowa; and Barbara Letcher and husband Kendal of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Nick, Cory, and Amy Windus; Amanda Potter and Paige Letcher; and Jamie and Jacob Fritz; three great-grandchildren: Rylee and Bailee Pierce and Nevaeh Fritz; sister Eileen Escher of Kalona, Iowa; and sister-in-law Delores Franzen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Justin Letcher in 2012, and brother Charles Franzen.
