Louise (Porter) Fields McFarlane, age 94, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Halcyon House following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m Saturday, October 22nd, at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:30 Friday Evening. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Day Lounge of Halcyon House. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Louise was born October 4, 1917 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Edgar Mosas and Marion Lucy (Bandy) Porter. She graduated from Washington High School and attended Washington Jr. College for two years. On July 5, 1941, Louise was united in marriage to Roy Allison Fields in Brownwood, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1972. Louise was later married to Robert McFarlane on January 1, 1978 in Washington, Iowa.
He preceded Louise in death on December 26, 2003.
Louise was a life resident of Washington County. She worked at the Washington Evening Journal and was also a secretary at Washington Manufacturing in Washington, Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was an active member of T.T.T. Louise enjoyed reading and in her earlier years she enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her son Gene Fields and wife Lois of Riverside, Iowa; daughter Nancy Welch and husband Ted of Wascott, Wisconsin; son John Fields and wife Kathy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; stepson Rob McFarlane and wife Marty of Iowa City, Iowa; stepdaughter Paula Stocks and husband Phil of Richland, Iowa; five step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Porter of Washington, Iowa and Phyllis Porter of Amarillo, Texas.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Fields and husband Robert McFarlane, two brothers Robert and John Porter and one sister Frances Belles.
