Obituary

Louise Frakes, age 71, of Brighton, passed away at home on December 18, 2015, surrounded by her family and supported by Washington County Hospice.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor Maureen Howard, Pastor Dennis Arnold and Ginger Morgan jointly officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm Sunday, December 27, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at a later date. A general memorial has been established. Gladys Louise Frakes was born December 28, 1943 in West Chester, Iowa, the daughter of George L., Sr. and Mildred Gladys (Gorsh) Stout. She graduated from Ainsworth High School and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and later she received her Master's in Music and Ph.D. in Music from the University of Iowa. Louise was united in marriage to Harold R. Frakes on October 3, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth.

She taught music in Fairfield, Iowa, Bisbee, Arizona and Mid-Prairie Community School District for over 35 years. She also taught music methods classes at Iowa Wesleyan College. Louise attended various United Methodist churches and most recently was attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Iowa. She loved singing, teaching, gardening and playing Bridge.

Louise is survived by her husband, Harold Frakes of Brighton, IA; daughter, Christal Frakes (Ginger Morgan) of Madison, WI; son, Joseph Frakes of Brighton, IA; six grandchildren: Haleigh of Washington, IA, Alyx of Brighton, IA, Jacob of Cedar Rapids, IA, Carl of Washington, IA, and Sammie and Finn of Madison, WI; great-grandson, Tripp of Washington, IA; brother, Ed Stout of Kansas City, MO; brother, William (Dorothy) Stout of Ainsworth, IA; sisters-in-law: Lois Stout of Burlington IA; Judy Stout of Columbus Junction, IA; and Mary Barnett of Fairfield, IA; brothers-in-law: Stan (Deb) McCreedy of Ainsworth, IA; and Roger Frakes of Packwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David and George Stout; and sisters, Millie McCreedy and Virginia Ann Stout.
