Loretta "Jean" Moody, age 88, of Washington, Iowa died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her daughter's residence in Fruitland, Iowa following a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m. Private family services will take place at a later date. Jean Moody was born on August 9, 1923 in Crawfordsville, Iowa the only daughter of Oral W. and Hazel M. (Doig) Long. She attended elementary school in Crawfordsville, and later graduated high school in Brighton, Iowa.
Jean lived in Ottumwa, Iowa for a short time, and she had lived in Washington for most of her adult life. While living in Ottumwa, Jean helped her parents run the family's restaurant. She was employed by Advanced Ross Electronics, and later retired from Modine. Jean helped open a plant in Juarez, Mexico for Components, Inc, and traveled extensively abroad training personnel at various factories. She was a two-time state champion pitcher in kitten ball, the predecessor to women's softball. Jean lived her life for her children and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by son Bruce Brown and wife Pat of Washington, Iowa; daughter Connie Wagner of Washington, Iowa; daughter Pam Mier and husband Greg of Fruitland, Iowa; daughter Robbie Cicalo of Washington, Iowa; son Don Moody and wife Jan of Peoria, Illinois; and daughter Cindy McCannon and husband Mike of Payson, Arizona; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, former mayor, Rick Cicalo, and her Uncle Stanley Doig.
