Lorena Bernice Goode, age 94, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. General calling hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter. Lorena was born April 3, 1921, in rural Washington County the daughter of Gottlieb and Erma (Becney) Hess. She was united in marriage to Clay E. Goode on August 9, 1941.

Lorena lived her entire married life in Washington County. The couple farmed in the Wellman and Washington area. She helped her husband in the seed business. Lorena was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing needlework and embroidery. Lorena was an Iowa Hawkeye Sports fan and enjoyed watching their events on TV.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Pedrick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Brother-in-law, Harlan Goode of Ankeny, Iowa; three nieces, Jerolyn Corpman & husband Charles of Brighton, Iowa; Roberta Skinner & husband Stan of Washington, Iowa; Laura Allen & husband David of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nephew, Bruce Pedrick and wife Marlys of Cambridge, Wisconsin; nephew, Jeff Goode of Ankeny, Iowa; a number of great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2009; one brother, Meeker Hess; one nephew, James Hess; and brother-in-law, John Pedrick.
