Lois Jean Hampsher, age 89, of Ainsworth, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Jean was born March 30, 1926 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Sarah (Buntenbach) Smith. She graduated from Washington High School. Jean was united in marriage to Allen Hampsher on January 31, 1947 in Moline, Illinois.
Jean was a homemaker and the head cook at Washington High School for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Washington County Historical Society. Jean enjoyed reading and genealogy.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny Smith, of Clinton, IA; son, Chris Hampsher and wife Joyce of Lisbon, IA; son, Robin Hampsher and wife Marsha of Ainsworth, IA; son J Hampsher and wife Ann of Cedar Rapids, IA; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Wilson and husband Bud of Rolla, MO.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; step-mother, Wilna Smith; son-in-law, Jerry Smith; grandson, Cory Smith; and granddaughter Sarah Hampsher.
