Ira Lloyd Miksch, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Gretchen Denton officiating. Visitation will begin noon Wednesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Grace Hill Moravian Church or the Pleasant Hill Church of Washington. Lloyd was born July 21, 1919 in Washington County, Iowa the son of Ira and Mary (Jones) Miksch. He attended country school in Washington County and graduated from Washington High School in 1937. On March 15, 1942, Lloyd was united in marriage to Georgia Janecek in Kahoka, Missouri.
Lloyd was a lifelong resident of Washington County living on the same farm since 1953. He farmed all of his life in Washington County. He was happily married for 69 years and enjoyed being with his family. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lloyd enjoyed farming, fishing, camping and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife Georgia Miksch of Washington, Iowa; daughter Connie Hough and husband Pat of Weems, Virginia; son Allen Miksch and wife Peg of Washington, Iowa; grandson Louie Miksch and wife Christina of Washington, Iowa; grandson Jeff Brinning of Denver, Colorado; granddaughter Molly Miksch and friend Jason of Washington, Iowa; granddaughter Jami Young and husband Geoff of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and three great grandchildren: Natalie and Ella Young of Mechanicsville, Virginia and Jayden Miksch of Washington.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons Glen Allen and Larry Allen Miksch; three brothers Robert, Dave and Lawrence; as well as two sisters, Beulah Miksch and Meriam Nichols.
