Linda Kay Henderson, 67, of Washington died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at her home in Washington following a two year battle with ALS.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Herb Yoder officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Crawfordsville Cemetery. Linda was born April 10, 1944 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Irvan and Frieda (Woodyard) Hesseltine. She attended country school in Washington County and later attended school in Crawfordsville. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962 and graduated from Burlington Beauty Academy. Linda was united in marriage to David Henderson on October 6, 1963 in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Linda lived in Crawfordsville for sixty years. Linda and Dave moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri for three years and returned to Washington in 2004.
Linda worked for Ross Manufacturing, the Calendar Factory, People Savings Bank in Crawfordsville, Jeanne's Hair Cottage, and later worked at the Outlet Mall in Osage Beach at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, where she was a member of United Presbyterian Women, and served as an Elder and a Deacon. She was also a member of the Wednesday Study Club, Chapter DL TTT, and was a former member of the United Church of Crawfordsville, where she was an Elder. Linda was a volunteer at the Washington County Hospital.
Linda is survived by her husband, David "Dave" Henderson of Washington; daughter, Robin Earnest and husband Kevin of Washington; daughter Deanna Adams and husband Rex of Dahinda, Illinois; her grandchildren, Natalie Earnest, Rae Ann Earnest and Nathanael Adams; mother, Frieda Hesseltine of Washington; sister Karren Zickefoose and husband Gail of Brighton; sister Connie Waterhouse of Washington; brother Lyle Hesseltine and wife Carol of Washington; sister Sue Woodard and husband Jack of Fairfield; brother Dale Hesseltine and wife Rhonda of Crawfordsville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother-in-law, Bob Waterhouse.
