Lillian Mae Evans, age 92, of West Burlington, Iowa, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Burlington Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with services conducted by Pastor Jim Stiles. Visitation will begin 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson's Foundation. Lillian was born April 17, 1920 in Kingsley, Iowa the daughter of Lon Legant and Margaret Mae (Suffal) White. She attended school in Washington, Iowa. Lillian was united in marriage to Huber Dale Evans, Sr. on September 1, 1939 in Washington, Iowa.
Lillian lived in Washington, Iowa most of her life moving to West Burlington following her retirement. She worked at the American Pearl Button Factory, the McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory and Hy-Vee Food Store retiring in 1982.
Lillian enjoyed gardening and sewing. She loved collecting swan figurines and making candy for her family for the holidays. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and watching WWE Wrestling. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and shared her love through cooking.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Janet Evans of Sigourney, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Anthony Evans and wife Dawn of Marengo, Iowa; Shawn Evans and significant other Mindy Anderson of Avon, Illinois; Heather Denny and husband Troy of Sigourney, Iowa; Nicki Leathers and husband Mike of Delta, Iowa; David Evans and wife Laura of Wever, Iowa; Lonni Goldman and husband Jason of Hedrick, Iowa; and Jodee Evans and fiance Alan Sellers of Sigourney, Iowa; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; half brother, Frank Lukavsky and wife Evelyn of Washington, Iowa; half sister, Joan Palmer and husband Tom of Washington, Iowa; and half sister, Mary Mitchell of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2006; sons Huber, Jr. and Lonnie; daughter-in-law Juanita; one sister, Pauline White; one brother, Irvin White; and two half sisters, Darlene Lukavsky and Bernice Lukavsky.
