Leroy Bain, age 91, of Littleton, Colorado, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at MorningStar Senior Living in Littleton.

Services to celebrate the lives of Leroy and Janet Bain will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for House of Heroes or the Iowa City American Legion Post 17. Leroy was born April 1, 1933, in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Dale and Rosa (Davison) Bain.
Leroy attended school in Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School. He was united in marriage to Janet Shalla on October 9, 1954, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington.

Leroy and Janet lived in Lewes, Delaware until Leroy was assigned to an Aircraft Carrier at which time Janet moved back to Washington. He served honorably in the United States Navy. They lived in Washington for seven years and in Iowa City for over fifty years. Leroy worked as a Manager at Procter and Gamble in Iowa City for 36 years. Leroy and Janet traveled to 49 states and after retirement they traveled the country in their motorhome visiting family and meeting friends in Texas each winter. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, the Moose Lodge and the Iowa City American Legion. Leroy enjoyed camping, fishing, taking care of his yard, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and feeding and watching the birds.

He is survived by son, Ronald (Belinda) Bain of California; son, Roger Bain of New Mexico; daughter, Susan Whatley of Colorado; seven grandchildren: Dillon, Brianna, Jared, Valerie, Jordan, Taylor and Ella; and one brother, Larry Bain of Wisconsin.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Rosa Bain; wife Janet, in 2023; and siblings, Allen, Donna and Dorothy.
