LaVonne K. Nemmers, age 74, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 15, 2023, following a sudden illness.

LaVonne was born on December 15th, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Eva Adaline (Ingalls) Merrifield. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Carl Merrifield. She graduated from Iowa City High School, in Iowa City, Iowa. LaVonne was united in marriage to Mark A. Nemmers on December 15th, 1983 in Nassau, Bahamas.
LaVonne had lived in Washington, Iowa since 1983. She worked as a housekeeper at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for 36 ½ years. She enjoyed traveling, having visited 47 U.S. States and 9 Provinces in Canada, as well as Mexico. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Mark of Washington, Iowa.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Ruth, uncle Carl, and brothers Charles and Rex Merrifield.
